Shang Palace was my last meal in HK before heading home. The decor is dated and frozen in time. It is typically Chinese design and even the lightings evinced an old HK charm. It sure can do be with a makeover. But the customer service is truly par excellent. The staffs made an extra effort to please and are attentive to our needs. Every dish is a delight. We had dim sum. The usual rice roll with char siew. Every bite is a savory delight. The appetizer is the peppery roasted cashew nuts. It is awesome. We also had the carrot cake fried in XO sauce. The Char Siew Chan Bao, Fried Pork Dumpling and for dessert, I had the red bean paste infused with orange peel. The food quality is amazing. The carrot cake is fried just right. There is a house specialty whereby there is an edible fried leaf. Overall it is an enjoyable experience. I will definitely make a return visit.
Made reservation online via the hotel app
Visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and it was not that crowded
Nice environment for gatherings.
Good service, food was excellent, portion was adequate
Best honey sauce barbecued pork I’ve ever had! Crispy pork belly is also very well cooked, and the seafood rice in lobster broth is amazingly delicious! The only downside is the crispy beef brisket is too dry and kinda lack of flavor, but the other 3 dishes we ordered were beyond wonderful so I would still give it 5 stars. Plus, the service is very attentive.
after long while now that travel between hong kong and shenzen is open decided to try my old favorite dim sum place Shang Palace at Shangri La. It was rather disappointing , place half empty none of the waiter spoke any english at all anymore ; the food take awful long to come out, half the order came late the rest later. as an experience it lost its appeal and the food is somehow not up to the taste and standard it used to be. Most annoying at 2 pm they turn the aircon off it’s getting too hot to stay and their buffet dim sum closes at 14:30 pm that’s absolutely mean!I think need to look for an alternative for my next shenzen visit
A great restaurant with great decor, great service and most of all, good food!
Ordered a few veggie dishes, and they tasted exceptionally good! The one that looked like sweet-and-sour pork was actually Sweet and Sour Gluten! Fulfilled 色 + 香 + 味!
My friends did order other popular dishes... I heard they say: good, good and good.
I re-visited this restaurant again for lunch after a few years. The lady staff was friendly & attentive provided excellent service as they did previously. The food standard was however a bit on the down side.
Steamed pork dumplings was tasteless. Baked abalone puff was fine but nothing special. Pan-fried bean curd sheet roll with shrimps, the bean curd sheet was not crispy but chewy.
Deep-fried garoupa fillets with salted egg yolk & Sautéed chicken fillets with peppercorn were both tasty & yummy, per hotel standard.
Soup noodles with shrimp dumplings, the dumplings were tasteless & noodles were too soft.
I don’t like the mangoes inside the mango pudding dessert, it was very very sour & the pudding itself was a bit hard.
This place is highly over rated in my opinion.
The food is quite a let-down. Nice presentation but the flavor is just not there. The shiitake-shaped egg custard buns are served cold. Rate 4 stars only for the nice decor and great service.
This place was highly over rated in my opinion. The ambience was grand, however to pay over AU$260 per head for the chefs menu was not worth it. Perhaps the ala cart would have been a better choice? The portions were small, the wait in between dishes was long, the service was horrible - none of the servers made eye contact or came to check on us. Our dessert was forgotten and we waited for 40 minutes thinking it was going to come. We had to remind the waiter and he apologised and dessert came shortly after but it was nothing special. When it came to paying, the host didn’t even asked how our experience was so we left a feedback card with the hotel instead. We left hungry and really disappointed as we thought this was a highlight of our trip to Hong Kong. Not a great experience and I do not recommend this place.
